Description

Attendees will learn about the Black Lung and Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Programs administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA); the Department of Labor (DOL) and Department of Justice (DOJ) claims processes for coal and uranium and nuclear weapons workers; and the challenges and opportunities providers who treat these populations face. Attendees will also be able to describe the mission of the Federal Black Lung program, the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act and the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act; the statutory requirements for conducting a complete pulmonary evaluation to determine disability; and the need for additional diagnostic providers to conduct disability evaluations for the programs.
