This workshop will explore the concepts of simulation-based medical education (SBME) as related to ICU safety, specifically interprofessional education (IPE) also known as team training, as well as deliberate practice and assessment of competence to perform critical care procedures. We will start the workshop reviewing these concepts, the data regarding these practices with respect to ICU safety well and areas of uncertainty. We will then break into small groups led by facilitators so that each group can practice debriefing interprofessional critical care teams as well as develop a deliberate practice model and competency for procedural training relevant to their practice at their home institution.
